eResearch SA Roadshow

eResearch SA recently went on the road to talk to researchers about who we are, what we do, and what we can do for them!

Thank you to all the researchers who attended and stayed to chat with us about their projects. Presentations are available for download by clicking on the presentation titles below.

An introduction to eResearch SA: Dr Paul Coddington, Interim Director, eResearch SA

What is eResearch? What does eResearch SA do? How can researchers from all disciplines use eResearch SA services to:

  • collaborate more easily
  • create shared web spaces for knowledge and community building
  • share data and take the pain out of data storage and archiving
  • access shared computer power for complex analysis and processing tasks
  • use visualisation techniques to see complex or abstract data sets in a new light

Data management: Daniel Cox

Do you have more data than you know what to do with? Do you wish it was easier to share your data with colleagues? Is there a better way to archive your data? Daniel will introduce you to the South Australian Sustainable Repository (SASR): it's free for moderate use by researchers and it could be the answer you've been looking for.

Research collaboration: Dr Paddy McGee

Do you work with researchers across the globe? Across the country? Across the city?

If you work with colleagues who are based at other locations anywhere in the world, this presentation will introduce you to simple-to-use web and video collaboration tools that can change the way you do research. Learn about enriched alternatives to phone or email conversations and see how you can participate in shared work, in real-time from the comfort of your desktop.

High performance computing: Patrick Fitzhenry

How can high-performance computing help you process complex analysis tasks faster? How can you access computing resources or data storage facilities located across the country? How do you go about using these resources? What is a supercomputer?

Patrick will introduce you to eResearch SA's high-performance computing facilities and explain the process for getting your data-processing, modelling, analysis or simulation jobs done.

If you're interested in using any of the services or facilities covered in the presentations, or you'd like to find out more, simply email helpdesk@eresearchsa.edu.au with details.
